The Odisha Pollution Control Board has extended the validity of the consent to establish order issued to DLF by five years.

The order for DLF’s Cyber City project coming up at Patia on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar is now valid till August 30, 2017.

DLF is investing Rs 1,000 crore in the real estate project that will house IT parks, business centres, hotel, mall, and service apartments on 54 acres. The first phase of the project is ready for commercial operations.

The extension of the pollution board’s order is subject to revalidation of environment clearance for the project by DLF.

DLF Cyber City will house infotech companies like Mindfire, IN2IT Technologies and Luminous Infoways. A business process outsourcing unit is already functional and another one is expected to start operations soon. The tower also houses a Maruti Suzuki Nexa outlet. Once the first tower is fully occupied, nearly 5,000 people will be working in it.

DLF announced its foray into Odisha in 2009. The project was delayed because of lack of demand by infotech companies. The Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) last May warned of action against DLF for keeping a large chunk of land idle. Of the 54 acres allotted to DLF for the project, only 7 acres have been utilised.
