Online taxi aggregator Ola has announced the launch of its dedicated Ola Money app, taking forward its efforts to compete in India's increasingly crowded digital wallet space.

Users will be able to recharge their mobile phones and send money to family and friends through the app. The company had recently opened up its Ola Money platform to third party services such as OYO Rooms, Saavn and Lenskart, allowing users to pay for them using Ola Money.

Ola claims that the average transaction on Ola Money is higher than other leading wallet companies out there today. However, Paytm, which is the leader in the digital wallet space claims it has 100 million active users on its platform as of August 2015.

"Ola Money has seen tremendous acceptance over the last three months, since the time we opened it up for third party merchants. We continue to add more merchants and build many more use cases with Ola Money, making it a seamless experience for users," said Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and CEO of Ola, in a statement.
