State-run petroleum explorer Oil and natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) today said it announced four new hydrocarbon discoveries in the fourth quarter ended March talking the total number of discoveries last financial year (2014-15) to 22 against 14 in the previous fiscal.

The new discoveries in the last quarter include Vadtal 11 in New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP) block CB-ONN-2004/2 in Gujarat; South Pasarlapudi in Andhra Pradesh; and Khoraghat 35 and Khoraghat-37 (KHBA) in Golaghat district in Assam.

"In addition, ONGC began financial year 2015-16 with two more significant discoveries -- M-4 in NELP block KG-DWN-98/2 (KG-D5) and KG-OSN-2004/1 in NELP-VI block in KG Offshore basin," the company said in a statement.

ONGC's total crude oil production from its domestic fields last fiscal stood at 22.264 million tonne (MT) against 22.247 MT in previous fiscal. "Thus continuous decline in production of crude oil over last seven years could be stopped," the statement said.

It added the growth in production has come from ONGC's Western Offshore fields. Total crude oil production from Western Offshore was 14.74 MT, 7.5% higher than the previous year's production of 13.71 MT.
