Online booking of air tickets grew 31% in October: IAMAI

The online bookings on irctc.com witnessed a year-on-year growth of 15%

Online booking of air tickets saw a significant growth of 31% during October 2012, as compared to the numbers of the corresponding month last year, according to the Internet Economy Watch report for October 2012 released today by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

Air tickets booked online in October 2012 were 1.58 million, as compared to 1.21 million during the same period a year ago. The online bookings on irctc.com witnessed a year-on-year growth of 15% with 4.72 million books in October 2012, as compared to 4.10 million bookings in the corresponding month last year.

According to the data captured from leading e-tailing sites in the monthly tracker, the online visit to branded apparel and book segments has increased by 19% and 26% respectively, as compared to the numbers of corresponding month last year.

 

“A significant increase has been registered in the online users’ visit to the footwear segment. The number of visits has increased to 4.32 million in October 2012, from 3.86 million in October 2011. The online users’ visit to the jewellery segment decreased from 2.45 million in October 2011 to 1.95 million in October 2012, a year-on-year decline of 20%,” the report said.
