Hyderabad-based online medical referral services provider DesiMD today said the company was eyeing $5 million capital for expanding its service offerings, and to achieve a wider geographical reach.
Company’s head of operations, GV Rao, said, "the promoters have evaluated for seeking $5 million funding from potential venture capitalists at the American Telemedicine Association conference to be held from from May 2-5 in the US."
He said the capital would be utilised for acquiring technology capabilities, marketing and branding measures. The company has its operations centre (call centre) here, and plans to open more in other states tracking the demand.
DesiMD allows users to fix online appointment with doctors from its network of hospitals, locate diagnostic providers, maintain personal healthcare records management and get latest health updates.
On expansion plans, he said the company had planned to serve an annual 120,000 active subscribers for online medical advisory and referrals by the end of the current calendar year, besides growing its medical services ecosystem to cover 360 hospitals during the period, up from the current 225 hospitals.
He said the company’s long term goal was to list a hospital in every district of the country for its users.
Rao said they were in discussions with state governments for providing tailor-made online medical offerings for rural populace in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
It is also in talks with corporate houses, mobile service providers, microfinanciers and NGO-focused bodies to use its services for their staff.
