Other broadcasters from European and West Asian countries, who are looking to expand their presence in various European countries are also likely to benefit from the acquisiton, sources said. |
The carriage and hosting of channels is expected to generate revenue opportunity of $40 million for ORG Informatics, sources added. |
The Rs 350 crore turnover company ORG Informatics is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and has its presence in Asia, West Asia, Singapore and the US. |
The acquisition of an European satellite company will boost the expansion plans of the domestic broadcasters including Zee TV, Sony TV and Star TV, that have a dominant presence in the UK but have been evaluating satellites for expanding their reach in other European countries including Germany, France, Spain, Italy among others. |
"The acquisition of European satellite company is in line with companies plans of entering the satellite communications space. The company recently associated with Eutelsat, another European satellite operators for transponder capacity," a company source said. |
ORG Informatics is looking to become a one-stop shop for content delivery for broadcasters in West Asia, Europe and Africa who will be able to uplink their television channels on company's satellite which it will acquire soon, sources said. |
The company is currently engaged in providing networking solutions and VSAT connectivity to companies such as MTNL and BSNL's operations in African countries apart from Saudi Telecom and Monaco Telecom. |
