"We plan a pan-India presence in the next 1-3 years with dedicated campuses in Delhi, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Kolkata, and a shared campus between Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad," Captain Ravee, managing director of OSSIM, said.

He said that the process to identify area where the campus should come up in Rajasthan has already been started. "We should be able to decide on it soon", he added.

The managing director said that OSSIM is also planning to expand internationally within Asia, and are in discussions for a joint-venture with the Fire and Safety College of Oman with a view to sharing each others educational and training products.

Giving details about the institute, Captain Ravee said that OSSIM aims at providing professional education and training in the field of internal security and intelligence , public safety and prevention of crime.

It is the first ever private security education and training institute of this nature in India.

OSSIM specialises in various certificate courses right from the training of security guards to educational courses for managers of all grades, including middle and senior grades for whom an MBA in security management is in the planning stage which is to be started shortly.

Captain Ravee said that in India there is a huge gap between the demand and supply of trained private security personnel and monitoring the efficiency of security personnel is also a great challenge as there are no criteria or standards to accredit their performance against.

The private security industry offers huge employment opportunities, many of them at managerial level where there are over half a million vacancies for suitably experienced, educated and trained staff. The industry employs more than 5 million security personnel and is expected to grow at the rate of 25% per annum and managerial vacancies will grow pro-rata.

He said that the need for planned education and training for youths interested in joining the private security industry as junior managers is being addressed by OSSIM, the only institute in the country which offers courses in security and intelligence education, which are recognised by 'AKA' Training & Consultancy Ltd. (UK), which is accredited centre of City & Guilds.
