Over 20 workers injured at Adani's Mundra power plant

Over 20 workers at Adani Power Limited (APL)'s Mundra power plant on Wednesday were injured after hot water splashed from the vent of a flash tank in one of the nine units. The incident took place during the unit start-up, the company said.

"Today, during start-up, after two day's shut down, in one of the nine units of Mundra Power plant, hot water splashed from the vent of a flash tank. During the start up some steam is normally allowed to vent.

During this process 21 workmen working in the said unit have been affected by the splashing of hot water, the unit has been shut down," Adani Power stated in an official communique.

Out of the 21 workers, while eight who suffered "nominal" injuries were provided first aid before releasing, the rest 13 workers who suffered "various levels of injuries" were moved to super-specialty hospitals in Ahmedabad for further treatment.

"The company has constituted a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team of experts to investigate the incident and submit report within 10 days," APL stated.
