Indian aviation industry saw an addition of seating capacity of 20 per cent on a year to date basis with an induction of 100 aircraft in 2018 (compared to average 50 aircraft in the previous three years). More than 50 per cent of the incremental capacity has been added by IndiGo. The surge in seats has been led by deliveries of Airbus A320neos. With induction of new aircraft and steady passenger growth airlines took a marginal fare hike in September-December quarter.
