Panacea Biotec net up 42% on higher sales
 
Panacea Biotec has registered 42 per cent increase in its net profit to Rs 27.1 crore during the third quarter ended December 31, 2006 against Rs 5.2 crore in the previous corresponding period.
 
The company's net sales in the period under review surged 79 per cent to Rs 197.1 crore compared with Rs 110 crore in the same period a year ago.
 
Bhagyanagar bottomline drops 5%
 
Bhagyanagar India, engaged in the diversified business of metals and components manufacturing, reported a marginal decline of 5 per cent in its net profit at Rs 6.87 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with Rs 7.23 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
 
Shree Cement net profit up 272%
 
Shree Cement has posted 272 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 104 crore in the quarter ended December 31 as against Rs 27.96 crore in the year-ago period. Turnover rose by 153 per cent to Rs 364.54 crore compared with Rs 144 crore.
 
According to company officials, strong demand growth in the markets where the company is operating resulted in better price realisation. "Demand in the north is growing by 10.6 per cent compared with the all-India figure of 9.3 per cent," an official said.
 
BOC India net declines 66%
 
Industrial gas major BOC India has registered 65.85 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 3.77 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2006, as against Rs 11.04 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Turnover too dipped to Rs 115.29 crore as against Rs 163.31 crore year-ago quarter.
 
According to officials, the below-par performance is due to a shutdown at its Jamshedpur plant for 20 days during the quarter for technical reasons. The plant's capacity is 1,290 tonne per day.
