After setting up wind mills of 7.2 Mw near Karad in Maharashtra, the Rs 3000 crore Parle Products company is planning windmill projects in Gujarat. The company is in the process of scouting for suitable land in the coastal areas of the state.

"We are looking at setting up windmills in Gujarat and are looking for a suitable place for the project. Two months ago, we started our windmills near Karad in Maharashtra, where we have 12-15 windmills of 7.2 Mw power," said Mayank Shah, group product manager, Parle Products Ltd, on the sidelines of the launch of 'Parle My Green Planet' initiative in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Both the projects are part of the company's green iniatitive, which also includes reaching out to 5000 schools across over 75 towns and cities in the country with the aim of reducing wastage of plastic, increasing environmental awareness and conserving the ecosystem.

The company also plans to launch a tree plantation drive, for which it has tied up with four non governmental organisations (NGOs) in four different zones of the country. "The My Green Planet initiative aims to educate individuals of how much our environment is in threat, and how simple individual efforts can go a long way in preserving nature and avoiding further environmental deterioration.”

As part of its mid-term plans, the company aims a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10-15 per cent in three years' time, Shah added.
