Parrys Sugar Industries today reported a net loss of Rs 27.07 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011.
The company had a net loss of Rs 31.07 crore in the same period a year ago, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The total expenditure of the company in the first quarter of the current fiscal rose by almost 53% to Rs 132.64 crore as compared to Rs 86.93 crore in the year-ago period.
However, the net sales of the company increased by about 90% to Rs 127.17% as against Rs 67.07 crore in the period under review.
The Bangalore-based company is a subsidiary of EID Parry (India), with a combined crushing capacity of 5,000 tonnes of cane per day (TCD).
Shares of the company today closed at Rs 112, down by 2.27% from its previous close at the BSE.
