Government-owned helicopter company Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd (PHHL) is looking towards various tourism and pilgrimage destinations across the country to increase its revenue.

“We are talking with various states to start helicopter services at various tourism and pilgrimage spots. There is huge potential and we can increase our revenues from this,” said PHHL Chairman and Managing Director R K Tyagi.

India’s largest helicopter service provider is talking with Punjab, Gujarat, West Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in this context.

“We are working on finalising a model to launch our service. We would want that our involvement in all these projects should be least and state governments take the lead,” said Tyagi.

The company, with a fleet of 36 helicopters, is adding 12 more by the end of this year. “We will start receiving our new helicopters from July. These new helicopters will enhance our capacity to be utilised for the new business,” said Tyagi.

PHHL, in the first three quarters of this financial year, made an operating profit of Rs 28 crore, compared with the Rs 20.3 crore made last year.

The operating revenue of the company is Rs 290.9 crore compared with Rs 310.9 crore in the previous financial year.
