Pawar meets union members of Bajaj Auto

Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today met representatives of the workers unions of Bajaj Auto (BAL), which shut down its plant at Akurdi near here from September 1.

Pawar, who represents Baramati (Akrudi falls under the constituency) in Lok Sabha, told reporters that a second round of discussions on the problems of workers would be held in Mumbai on September 8.

Maharashtra Labour Minister Ganesh Naik and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar were also present at the meeting that was also attended by a management representative of BAL.

Pawar appealed to workers, numbering over 2,000, to be patient, and noted the fact that they were being paid monthly wages by the company.
