PDEXCIL expects Rs 500 crore biz from textile show

As against a Rs200 crore last year, Powerloom Development & Export promotion Council (PDEXCIL) expects to see the upcoming 'GLOBAL INDIA TEXTILE SHOW' (GITS) generate business worth Rs500 crore this year.

In a bid to promote small entrepreneurs from India, PDEXCIL will be organising GITS in Coimbatore on December 4 & 5, 2010. The event is being supported by the Ministry of Textile under the market assistance initiative schemes of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India."We had seen the business meet result in deals worth Rs 200 crore taking place in the textile industry during GITS. This year we expect the number to go upto Rs 500 crore," said Bharat Chhajer, chairman, PDEXCIL.

 

As many as 150 exhibitors from all over the country are expected to participate and exhibit their textile products.

"The dealers will have an opportunity to meet foreign buyers, from 35-40 countries and will be exhibiting and showcasing the latest range of powerloom fabrics and made of 100 per cent cotton as well as blended fabrics, home textiles namely automobile fabrics, floor covering, surgical gowns, parachute fabrics," said Chhajer.
