Pegasystems Inc, a provider of business process management (BPM) and customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, which has been “delaying its India focus with a plan” is now setting its sights on government projects in India, according to its India vice-president and managing director Suman Reddy Eadunuri.

The Nasdaq-listed company, with total revenues of $416 million in 2011, is currently in early-stage discussions with government agencies to bid for projects, including the yet-to-be-floated tenders by Registrar of Companies (RoC) to manage its taxation, application process etc.

“At present, we are looking at countries like China, Japan and Thailand in the Asia-Pacific region for growth. And, India is a natural next step. Though India also throws up an opportunity, we still don’t have a full-fledged sales team here. We will probably get there (with a dedicated team that will go after Indian companies) by next year,” he told mediapersons here on Tuesday.

The company, he said, recently expanded its Hyderabad facility to accommodate close to 250 people, taking its total employee count in India to 501.

“We are continuing to hire aggressively with a plan to have 100 more onboard before the end of the year,” Eadunuri said, adding that the version 7 of its best-of-the-breed platform combining the elements CRM, BPM and case management will be released by the end of this year or early 2013.
