Petronet LNG Jan-March net profit down 52%

Petronet LNG, the nation's largest liquefied natural gas importer, today said its net profit declined by 52.39 per cent to Rs 97.29 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31.

Total income declined to Rs 2,385.45 crore for the March quarter, compared to Rs 2,654.88 crore during the same period corresponding fiscal, Petronet LNG said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

For the year ended March, 2010, the company posted a net profit of Rs 404.49 crore against Rs 518.44 crore in the last fiscal.

The company has recommended a dividend of 17.50 per cent or Rs 1.75 per share for the year ended March 31, 2010.

Shares of Petronet LNG today closed at Rs 81.75 on BSE, down 0.79 per cent from its previous close.
