Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL) plans to provide over 1.50 lakh residential power connections in Saurashtra and Kutch in the next fiscal. The company also plans to give 60,000 new connections for agricultural purposes.
It plans to spend over Rs 2,000 crore on this project during 2013-14.
PGVCL official said, “To provide reliable power and for better service to the consumers, the capital expenditure is estimated to the tune of Rs 2,065 crore for the financial year 2013-14. Our main focus will be on giving new residential connections and agriculture connections in rural areas of Saurashtra and Kutch.”
The Budget of PGVCL for the year 2013-14, with the estimated income of Rs 10,110 crore, was approved in the board meeting held last week. The revenue from sale of power including other income is estimated to the tune of Rs 9,703 crore. Furthermore, the amount of Rs 407 crore is expected to be received as subsidy from the state government.
The official said, “The estimated power purchase cost for the year 2013-14 is Rs 9,014 crore. Moreover, a estimated Rs 1,090 crore is made for the other expenses, which include Rs 530 crore towards employee cost, Rs 85 crore for repairs and maintenance work and the remaining amount of Rs 475 crore for depreciation and other expenses.”
