Pharmexcil chairman, Venkat Jasti, disclosed this while addressing an industry meet on 'India Chem 2008' here on Friday. He also wanted India Chem to be held in Andhra Pradesh instead of Mumbai as the state was the top producer of pharmaceutical products in the country.

Department of chemicals and petrochemicals secretary, VS Sampath, who delivered the keynote address, said Chemexcil, a representative body of the chemical industry in the country,  was also planning to set up a registration office in Brussels and Pharmexcil could approach it in this connection. "If you anticipate any problem, we will certainly look into it," he told Jasti.

Chairman and Managing Director of AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, BP Acharya, said the state was looking forward to hosting India Chem 2009. Already a proposal had been made in this regard, he said. State council chairman of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci), Narendra Surana, said AP had the highest number of 114 US FDA cleared pharmaceutical plants. He was hopeful that the next edition of India Chem would be held here. India Chem is the largest event of the chemical industry in the country, being organised every year by the Union government's Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals in association with Ficci.
