PHC to be upgraded under GE Healthcare initiative

GE Healthcare, part of the General Electric Company, today signed a memorandum of understanding with Tamil Nadu Government for the upgradation of a Primary Health Centre in Vellore District.

GE Healthcare (South Asia) Managing Director V Raja exchanged documents with Vellore District Deputy Director of Health Services S Rajendran in the presence of state Health Minister M R K Panneerselvam and Principal Health Secretary V K Subburaj.

As per the MoU, GE Healthcare would donate medical quipment worth Rs 45 lakh for the PHC in Banavaram.

He said Rs 498 crore had been spent by the government in the last three years for upgradation of PHCs and district hospitals.

 

The MoU with the state government was for a period of two years, he later told PTI. To a question, he said the company had no plans to sign similar MoUs with any other state.

GE would create medical technology infrastructure for the Banavaram PHC and train the employees, he added.
