Philips launches India's first LED lighting range

Lighting company, Philips Electronics today unveiled India's first comprehensive LED (Light Emitting Diodes) Lighting range for home segment with the launch of an array of products. The launch is in line with Philips' vision to deliver innovative energy conserving lighting solutions.

The advantages of LEDs, the company said, include longer lifetime, compact size and flexibility in design, digital control programmability, light output with no ultra violet and infra red radiation and safety of usage because of low voltage and low heat operation.

Mathew Job, marketing director - Lighting Division, Philips Electronics India said, "LEDs is the next wave of lighting technology. LED Lighting Systems provide a much higher color saturation and brilliance than by filtering conventional light sources. Different colour effects are now possible from the same light source. Prior to this, LEDs have been used in many architectural and commercial applications. With this launch, we plan to extend the benefits of LED technology to our home users who can utilize this technology for decorative purposes especially in the fast approaching festive season beginning with Ganesh Chaturthi.. LEDs are not only aesthetically designed but also help save energy and can benefit the consumers by reducing their electricity bill."

The LEDs are said to be are weather proof , UV resistant and energy effcient with unbreakable plastic bulbs and are safe to use. They are highly energy efficient light sources.

Philips has currently introduced the following models in the LED portfolio and will subsequently add new models to the range every six months. The products will be available at all leading electrical outlets and Philips Arena outlets in India.
