A Ranchi-based PIL petitioner Rajesh Singh has written to the state advocate general (AG) A K Sinha, seeking consent to file a criminal contempt case against Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay for obstructing official work by opposing the anti-encroachment drive launched recently in the state capital by Ranchi district administration.

The petitioner after filing a petition in Jharkhand High Court wrote to the AG for the sanction. The HC withdrew the petition on April 8, but permitted the petitioner to file a criminal contempt case against Sahay.

The petitioner wrote to the AG that Sahay had disrupted the demolitiondrive in Islam Nagar area of the state capital and instigated people to confront the administration and the police in their bid to pull down illegal settlements.
