When it comes to e-governance, it is the planning department that seems to score the most in quick adaption, says Pune-based Nihilent Technologies that recently held the 'CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards 2010-11' in Ahmedabad.
As a part of its survey for the awards, the consulting and solutions integration company found that among all departments in state governments, it is the planning department that is most adaptive to e-governance initiatives.
"The planning department tends to be the most eager one to move to paper-less systems, followed by education, forests and lang registration departments. Moreover, among the state governments, we have found Gujarat to be the most proactive," said Robin Rastogi, General Manager Products & Strategic Initiatives, Nihilent Technologies.
Constituted for the period of April 1, 2010 - March 31, 2011, the awards were held as part of the 46th Annual Convention of Computer Society of India (CSI) at Ahmedabad.
Held for the ninth successive year, the awards are conferred with an aim of identifying and recognising the best e-Governance initiatives in India in citizen services at the state, department, district and project level.
Similarly, the state of Chhattisgarh won the award of excellence in state category while the forest department, Andhra Pradesh received the award of appreciation in the department category.
