Platinum Corp to invest Rs160 cr

The company has chalked out plans to set up ultra modern agri-biotech research centre, model farm and nursarier. Platinum is also considering getting into contract and corporate farming in near future.

As part of its efforts to venture into agri-biotech sector in a big way, the city-based company has acquired 200 acres of land for model farm and nursaries at Surendranagar district in Gujarat.

 

"The prime focus of the model farm and nurseries will be on genetic engineered plants, aromatic and medicinal plants with seed hybridisation, seed multiplication and system for soil analysis," said Mr. Anindo Banerjee, director, Platinum Corporation Ltd.

Platinum is strategically going for a complete in-house activity right from the grass root to the end use with value additions. The company has installed units of vermin compost, vermin wash and azobacter bio fertilisation, which will impart thrust to the soil and at the same time the cultivated plants will be less prone to infections, he added.

The different strains developed by the company will patented and will be sold to the global bio environmental friendly corporates and contract farming groups.

The company will set up ultra moder agri research center and it is in talks with some of the companies in Canada, Japan and US for technology transfers and joint ventures. Platinum Corporation plans to get in contract and corporate farming as well, he added.
