Hitting out at the Congress-led UPA for playing ‘politics of convenience’, Adani Group chairman, Gautam Adani, said that the facts in their allegations were not in order.
In an interview to The Economic Times, the industrialist spoke on issues ranging from allegations of PM Modi using his aircraft for his election campaign to the Chhattisgarh mine issue.
On the issue of the use of aircraft, Adani said that the conglomerate owned four planes and that everyone pays for using it. Anyone could hire these services, he said. In fact, he alleged the Congress of using aircraft owned by GMR Group.
“Doesn't Congress use GMR aircraft on a commercial basis too? Why isn't anyone talking about this? Why only Modi? He is not taking Adani aircraft for free,” he said. The industrialist went to allege that the line of attacks on him were deliberate. "I now think it's (the Congress view on him) not misconception...it's deliberate."
On the controversy surrounding his Chhattisgarh mine, Adani hit out at the then environment minister Jairam Ramesh for clearing the project itself.
"Let me put the record straight... The mine is owned by the Rajasthan government... You would be surprised to know that this happened when Congress was in power in Rajasthan. And who gave permission for this mine? It was no one but Jairam Ramesh himself," Adani said.
