Delhi Police today questioned Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra's industrialist father in connection with two cases of cheating, for which he was arrested 24 days ago.
"We have questioned A S Bindra today. We called him to appear before us as we wanted some clarifications in the cases in which he is an accused," Joint Commissioner (Crime) Amulya Patnaik told PTI.
The Economic Offences Wing of Delhi police arrested the senior Bindra on May 14 from Mohali in connection with the defrauding of a private finance company and a bank of about Rs 9.31 crore.
But, Delhi Police could not question him as a Chandigarh court denied transit remand on medical grounds. The accused later got interim bail from a Delhi court on a condition that he should appear before police when needed.
Asked whether the questioning would continue tomorrow, Patnaik answered in the negative but said, "When there is a need, we will call him."
Bindra, managing director of Chandigarh-based company Punjab Meats, was picked up in connection with complaints filed by Apple Finance in November 2006 and IndusInd Bank in February 2007.
