In spite of tall claims, investors in Madhya Pradesh are still groping in the dark. Land shortage, poor infrastructure and slow procedures may halt the plans of many.

A clear picture will emerge in the first week of next month after the review meetings of all investors who have signed deals with the state government in the recently organised Khajuraho Investors Meet. Various local industry bodies have alleged the government machinery has failed to address trivial problems in industrial areas, let alone creation of mega infrastructure. On the other hand, officials have said local Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigams, subsidiaries of ailing State Industrial Development Corporation will be asked to chalk out a proper plan for development.

“A small culvert is to be repaired on Pithampur-Indore road for the last several months, we have brought it to the notice of the state chief secretary but nobody seems to care in the government,” said Gautam Kothari, president of Pithampur Audyogik Sangthan. It is not an infrastructure issue but recently introduced policy is just a “forty page document” for many industrialists. They have said the new policy has failed to bring encouraging results. “It has nothing new for small, medium or large scale industries. Our suggestions were brushed aside,” said R S Goswami, president of MP Laghu Udyog Sangh.
