Volkswagen Group company Porsche will open at least six dealerships in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Kolkata and Mumbai next year.

The company, which established its business earlier in April this year, will set up additional state-of-the-art sales and service facilities over the course of 2013.

Anil Reddi, director, Porsche India, said, “With the appointment of six dealers in less than four months, I am pleased to say that this has been one of the fastest business ramp ups in the luxury automotive sector. And, I must add, we have more planned for this year.”

Porsche will sell its sports utility vehicle (SUV) Cayenne at Rs.61.4 lakh for the lowest trim. The diesel version of the SUV has been priced at Rs.68.3 lakh, while the Panamera Diesel will come for Rs.99 lakh.

The company said it will focus strongly sports car 911 and Boxter S, which will be sold at Rs.1.12 crore and Rs.80.24 lakh, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Maharashtra.

Deliveries of 911 and Boxster to customers will start shortly in India, the company said.

“The new business set-up allowed us to rework the pricing for the entire model range and we are certain that our discerning customers will be pleased with the result,” added Reddi.

The company said that its dealers are seeing very strong enquiries for the Cayenne diesel and the Panamera range. The Panamera, which comes equipped with a 3-litre V6 diesel engine retails for under Rs.1 crore. Porsche is expecting the Panamera to revive demand in the dormant luxury car segment by offering customers a lavishly equipped and sportier option.
