Posco, the world’s fourth-largest steel producer, plans to commission its 12-million tonne per annum (mtpa) greenfield plant in Orissa in three phases instead of four.
“Posco India representatives on Monday held discussions with state steel & mines secretary, who has asked the company authorities to submit a revised plan for the same,” said Raghunath Mohanty, minister for steel & mines. The company will commission four mtpa in each phase.
He said there was no discussion on iron ore swapping, but the state government would examine the order of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) on this matter.
