Power Grid Corp FY10 net up 20.7% at Rs 2,041 cr

State-run Power Grid Corporation, engaged in electricity transmission business, today said its net profit grew by 20.72 per cent to Rs 2,040.94 crore in the year ended March 31, 2010.

The company had a net profit of Rs 1,690.61 crore in the previous fiscal, Power Grid Corporation said in a filing with the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Net sales increased to Rs 7,127.45 crore in the year under review from Rs 6,675.85 crore in 2008-09.

The public sector firm is well entrenched in business segments of transmission, consultancy and telecom.

The PSU has around 71,500 circuit kilometers of transmission network and 120 numbers of extra high-voltage alternating current (EHVAC) and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) sub-stations with a total transformation capacity of 79,500 megavolt ampere (MVA).

 

It has diversified into telecom business to utilise spare telecommunication capacity of its unified load dispatch center (ULDC) schemes, using its country-wide transmission infrastructure.

Shares of the company closed at Rs 101, down 1.70 per cent from the previous close on the NSE.
