The city based AK Das Associates has restored the power supply to the Jindal Stainless ltd (JSL) plant located at Duburi in Jajpur district.

The power supply was restored after re-erecting three 220 KV towers which had collapsed on 14 September 2008.These towers were earlier supplied and erected by Utkal Galvaniser, a Orissa based company. The JSL was without power for more than a month due to the collapse of these three towers. The production of the company during this period had come to a halt resulting in huge losses to the company.

“A K Das Associates, which was awarded the restoration work, completed the job on a war footing despite adverse working conditions in the rehabilitation area”, says Amiya Das, MD of the company. It made use of emergency restoration service (ERS) facility to re-erect the towers with co-operation of the local villagers of Baligotha, Chandia, officials of Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) and other government bodies.

The ERS was commissioned on 24 October and power supply to Jindal plant was restored. Meanwhile, AK Das Associates has started work on a war footing for erection of permanent structures (220 KV towers) carrying power to the JSL plant, the company said in a press statement.
