UP Power Employees Joint Action Committee has demanded that the proposed thermal power plant at Bara and Karchhna in Allahabad should be taken back from the private company and developed in the public sector.
Jaypee had been awarded with both the plants after bidding.
The Committee also condemned the ‘police lathicharge’ on farmers of Karchhna today. In a release, it said the farmers had long been demanding adequate compensation for land.
The body demanded the two plants Bara (1,980 Mw) and Karchhna (1,320 Mw) to be developed by UP Vidyut Utpadan Nigam.
