The Power Ministry today said it would advice NTPC in its ongoing battle with Reliance Industries on gas supply, if the state-run power producer seeks support.

"We are ready to advice NTPC on the case (RIL-NTPC case) if they want," Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters here today.

NTPC is expected to file a Special Leave Petition before the apex court this week to get Mukesh Ambani-led RIL to implement a contract to supply gas to its Kawas and Gandhar projects.

NTPC wants the gas to be supplied at $2.34 per mmBtu, while RIL has maintained that the price has to be approved by the government.
