Praj Ind commissions Kandla SEZ facility

Ethanol technology major Praj Industries has announced the commissioning of its manufacturing unit at Kandla Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
 
The SEZ based facility was an outcome of the company¿s pursuit of global business of biofuel projects which involve supply of larger dimension equipment, a company press statement said on Thursday.
 
The release, quoting chairman Pramod Chaudhari, said, "the SEZ facility was planned keeping in mind the requirements of customers in the USA and Europe for their large capacity projects. Further expansion is on the anvil and is expected to be completed by December, 2007."
 
According to the release the presently commissioned area is about 75,000 sq. ft. which has a capacity to manufacture 3,500 tonnes of equipment.
 
The facility is equipped with modern machinery and a very high level of automation in welding and other processes. This will reduce the manufacturing cycle time and ensure a high degree of precision, the release said, adding that together with the planned expansion, Praj would more than double its manufacturing capacity this year.
 
Praj has committed an investment outlay of Rs 30 crore for the entire facility. The returns from this investment will begin flowing-in in this financial year itself, the release said.
