With Ahmedabad, and especially Sanand, growing into an auto hub with each passing day, Greater Noida-based Prime Comfort Products Pvt. Ltd. is mulling supply of foam to the likes of Tata Motors and Ford India's plants here.

A year old company, Prime Comfort Products Pvt. Ltd. is a manufacturer of a wide variety of high quality industrial and specialty polyurethane foam and mattresses.

"We are setting up a 10,000 MT PU foam manufacturing plant near Bavla in Ahmedabad. This new plant is aimed at manufacturing and marketing our mattresses to the western and southern parts of the country. However, since we also manufacture foam layer for the auto and footwear industry, we are mulling about entering into joint ventures with the likes to Tata Motors or General Motors for supply of foam," said Praduman Patel, founder and managing director, Prime Comfort Products Pvt. Ltd.

At an investment of Rs 50 crore, the company is setting up a 10,000 MT PU foam and mattresses plant in Gujarat which will be commissioned by 2012. Currently, the company's eight acre state of the art plant in Greater NOIDA has a capacity of 10,000 MT while it is expected to make about 4000 MT of PU foam worth Rs 80 crore this year.

"In next three years, we intend to have three manufacturing plants of 10,000 MT capacities each. By then, we hope to garner revenue of Rs 450 crore. The mattresses industry is pegged at Rs 5,000-6,000 crore and we intend to capture close to 10 per cent market share in near future," said Patel.

Formed almost a year back, the company recently launched its brand of mattresses and pillows called 'Refresh' in Gujarat.

Based on the 3-Zone comfort technology in spring mattresses and memory rebonded, the 'Refresh' brand of mattresses also come with enhanced air circulation and massage pressure points on the body. According to Patel, the mattresses are priced between Rs 3,500 and Rs 32,000.

In Gujarat, Prime Comfort has around five distributors and 200 dealers which the company intends to expand in near future. The 'Refresh' brand of mattresses and pillows will initially be available in North India and is likely to become a Pan-India brand over the next two years.

Nationally, at present the brand has over 25 distributors and over 1000 authorised dealers from where products will be available.
