Processed food industry to rise at 10% by 2010

 Government initiative in providing financial assistance to set up food parks to facilitate entrepreneurs to set up their units will give further impetus to the sector, it said, adding as per estimates Ministry of Food Processing has already approved setting up of about 100 food parks in various states.

 The sector also has good export potential, especially in the fruit and vegetables processed industry. Their production is expected to be around 200 million tones by 2007 and will rise to 225 million tones by 2010, the chamber added.
