Schwing Stetter India Ltd. (SSIL) said infrastructure projects in Punjab and Haryana under the government sponsored building, road and rail network projects helped it register a three fold increase in the sales from Rs 3.5 crore to over Rs 9 crore this calender year in this region.
The company opened its marketing office in Chandigarh in 2007 to cater to the markets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The slowdown in the housing sector due to recession may effect demand next year.
As machinery is procured in advance, 2008 sales did not reflect the effect of global meltdown, said one official. SSIL a 100 per cent subsidiary of Schwing GmbH of Germany making ready mix concrete (RMC) equipment, launched the SP 1400, its latest concrete pump.
This is the fourth category of pump to join the SSIL range of concrete pumps in India. It also manufactures the BP350 range, BP1800 range and BP2800 range of concrete pumps for the Indian market.
SP1400 is for the construction of buildings of vertical reach of up to 30 floors.
Speaking at the launch of SP1400, Anand Sundaresan, managing director of SSIL, said, “With latest technologies, planning and development, we have carved a niche for our products across the globe. We believe in upgrading products and services, based on our in-depth understanding of clients’ needs. The SP 1400 will complete the concrete pump product range and is specifically designed to meet the requirements of companies in the hiring segment, as well as companies in the commercial ready mix concrete business.”
V G Sakthikumar, chief operating officer of SSIL, said, “The SP1400 is designed to pump concrete at greater heights and faster speed. It also scores highly on fuel-efficiency, thereby bringing down the operating costs for customers substantially, with the use of this pump and has a long service life. High reliability, low operating costs and high resale value are key features of the SP1400.”
The concrete pump is being tested locally and has received positive feedback from customers who tried the product. The product will be manufactured in India first, after which SSIL will manufacture this model in USA and China.
