Prosecute Ansals for tampering with evidence in Uphaar case, says High Court

The Delhi High Court on Thursday allowed criminal prosecution of the Ansal brothers for allegedly tampering with evidence in the Uphaar fire case in which 59 cinegoers were killed and several others injured 12 years ago. Justice S Murlidhar dismissed the plea of Gopal and Sushil Ansal along with two others challenging the trial court order.

The court also imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 on them. In this case, Additional Sessions Judge Mamta Sehgal ordered an inquiry after some documents related to the Uphaar case went missing from the court record room.
