Punj Lloyd today said it had bagged a civil contract worth Rs 210 crore for a thermal power project from NTPC for its power plant in Assam.

"Punj Lloyd will undertake balance offloaded work for the power plant in Bongaigaon district of lower Assam. The project is scheduled for commissioning by 2014," the company said in a statement.

It added that the scope of work entails underground civil work, piling and foundations for over ground civil, structural and architectural work for the buildings of the plant among others.

The statement further said that Punj Lloyd was bullish on infrastructural development projects in the north-eastern part of the country as they would work as catalyst for the development of the region.

"Such initiatives, coupled with Punj Lloyd's expertise in execution of balance of the plant projects in difficult weather and soil conditions, will catalyse rapid development of significant projects in the country," its President and CEO (Buildings & Infrastructure) SS Raju said.

With this contract, the order book of the company has gone up to Rs 25,409 crore, the statement added.
