Mahindra & Mahindra group firm Punjab Tractors today said its net profit rose 37.91 per cent to Rs 35.03 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2008, as compared to Rs 25.4 crore over the corresponding period a year ago.
Total operating income rose to Rs 358.8 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 302.98 crore a year ago.
While, for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2008, the company has registered a net profit of Rs 84.78 crore, a two-fold growth over the corresponding period last fiscal. It had a net profit of Rs 38.50 crore in the same period FY08.
The company's total operating income for the nine-month period rose to Rs 980.88 crore, as against Rs 683.78 crore last fiscal.
Shares of Punjab Tractors settled at Rs 98.85, down 1.05 per cent on the BSE.
