Leading multiplex chain operator PVR Ltd on Friday said it was planning to add 15 screens in Punjab.
PVR on Friday opened North India’s largest nine screen multiplex in Mohali, taking its total screen count in the state, including the Union Territory of Chandigarh, to 35 screens.
“Currently, we have 35 screens in Punjab and have invested close to Rs 122 crore in the state. We have further plans to add 15 screens in the state, especially in Pathankot (four screens), Amritsar (four) and Ludhiana (seven),” Pramod Arora, chief executive and group president, PVR, told Business Standard.

The multiplex boasts of its 2K Digital projection enabled with 4K Digital system. It is also equipped with 7.1 surround sound, 3D enabled screens and JBL speakers. Considering movies are a popular source of entertainment for people, PVR is introducing its first gold class experience in Punjab.
In addition, the two Gold class auditoriums will have an exclusive lounge with a patisserie counter. Spread across an area of 72,557 sqft, the multiplex is equipped with a seating capacity of 1547 seats. This launch takes PVR to 417 screens in 96 cinemas in 40 cities across India.
Asked about the expansion plan Arora said, “Every year, we add around 100-120 screens across the country. In the current financial year, we have already added 77 screens and another 23 screens are in the pipeline which would be added by the end of this fiscal year.” The new screen will be fairly spread out in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
