Tuned at 94.3 FM, the station plans to attract youngsters aged between 18-34. Apart from the state-owned Vividh Bharati, Radio Mirchi and Radio City are already operating in Pune and neighbouring areas, which together have a population of more than 500,000. |
The newly launched Radio One, will hence have a tough competition in the market as South Asia FM's "S-FM" would also come to Pune by next month.

Speaking to Business Standard, Radio One programme director and radio jockey Sangram said, "Our audience target is very clear and obvious. We want to attract the youngsters. The programmes would be meant for students and IT professionals. Ofcourse, for all reasons, the station will have content which can be enjoyed by radio lovers from other age groups as well."
Radio One, a brand jointly promoted by Radio Mid-Day and BBC, has an initial programming team of five persons in Pune.
The station plans to deliver a mix of latest and popular songs along with humour.
When asked about the Radio One programming being different from that of the established market players, Sangram said, "Radio One has a policy to operate only in metros and big cities. We are either at the top position or at the second position in cities we operate. We will continue with the same programming policy as our other stations attract more and more youngsters from Pune."
After Pune, Radio One will launch operations in Kolkata in few months.
The official launch of the station will happen in another three weeks, Sangram stated.
