Rahul Bajaj to quit Bajaj Auto's MD post

Bajaj Auto Chairman Rahul Bajaj today said he will step down as the managing director of the company with effect from March 31, 2005.

His two sons, Rajiv Bajaj and Sanjiv Bajaj, would get the additional responsibility in the company.

"I will continue to be the Chairman of the company as long as the board wants me," Rahul Bajaj told reporters.

While Rajiv Bajaj would be elevated to the post of managing director handling entire operations including production, marketing, supply chain, manufacturing and production engineering; Sanjiv Bajaj would head the international marketing and other functions like finance, treasury, costing, secretarial, legal and corporate governence.

Currently, Rajiv Bajaj is the joint managing director of Bajaj Auto.
