Raj Television Network's flagship brand Raj TV is all set to undergo a face-lift including the logo at an investment of about Rs 3 crore. The network will also relaunch its music channel, Raj Musix, on June 5.

Rajiv Nambiar, CEO, Raj Television Network, told Business Standard that the Raj Musix will appeal to the audiences from 6 years to 60 years and will go on air in a week's time.

Talking about the all round face-lift given to the 11-year old Raj TV, V Chandrasekaar, executive vice- president, programming and productions, Raj TV, said, that the new image of the channel is going to be similar to what was 'Rolls Royce' to cars.

However, he was tight lipped about the details of the makeover of the channel. It is learnt the company will be investing Rs 3 crore on this restructuring initiative.

Raj Network has two channels in Tamil - Raj TV, and Raj Digital Plus and one in Telugu called Vissa TV. Raj Video Vision that boasts of a large movie library is the sister concern of Raj TV.

Initially, the new Raj Musix will cater only to Tamil music, primarily to film music and play English pop music during weekends. Chandrasekaar said that going forward the 24-hour music channel will also cater to ardent Carnatic music lovers.

It seems like a music season is on in the South as in the last five months there have been two new channels from the Sun Network's stable Kiran- a Malayalam music channel and Adithya- a Telugu music channel.

Film music lovers are in for a treat as with the relaunch of Raj Musix, they will have five music channels to choose from. This will include the newly rechristened Sun Music (earlier SCV) and Southern Spic.

Vissa and Raj Musix was originally launched in mid 2003 as a multi-lingual channel catering to Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English music.

These channels went off air in mid 2004 with the Information and Broadcasting ministry terminating the network's teleport license to air these two channels. The reason for termination was that the company had uplinked the channels prior to their approvals.
