Rajnagar Textile Mills, an undertaking of state-run National Textiles Corporation (NTC), is scheduled to commence production from September this year in Asarwa near here, a top official said today.
"The civil work of our new building will get over by May 15. Subsequently, the erection work of 72 air jet looms and 36,000 spindles purchased from Switzerland's Sulpex group and Coimbatore Lakshmi machinery respectively shall begin here," NTC General Manager B V Shah said.
"Now amongst the most modern textile mills here, our units will have production capacity of 50,000 metres of cotton sheeting and shirting fabric per day, besides 5,000 kg of yarn production," Shah said.
The surplus yarn produced here will be sold in the market also, he said. Rajnagar is among the 22 mills across India to be restarted by NTC as part of its multi-billion modernisation project. The mill was closed five years ago in 2005, due to labour-related problems, sources said.
"We will recruit over 450 Industrial Training Institute (ITI) trained workers to handle the operations here," Shah said. The spinning machinery will be commissioned by September, 2010, and weaving work shall commence by October, he added.
