Hyderabad-based Ramky Group company Ramky Enviro Engineer Ltd has been awarded a contract of constructing a treatment, storage and disposal facility (TSDF) for the management of industrial wastes in Indore. The company will construct the facility on an area of 60 acres. The site will cost Rs 35 crore to the state exchequer. |
Speaking to Business Standard, Satya Prakash, principal secretary, local self government department told Business Standard, "Hyderbad based Ramky Enviro has been awarded the contract for construction of the site." |
The facility is to be located at the Pithampur industrial area near Indore. The work on the facility will be completed in a phased manner, since a number of companies have reportedly been producing lethal toxic wastes, which are more toxic to the environment, than those emitted during December 1984 by an Indian arm of the US based firm, Union Carbide. |
The state assembly yesterday discussed the issue, and named a number of companies that were emitting toxic waste in the environment, particularly in the Pithampur area. |
"We are going to construct the facility soon in the Pithampur area, and a private firm has been awarded the contract of Rs 35 crore. The firm has been allotted a land area," Jayant Mallaya said. |
