Rana to produce ethanol at Amritsar unit

Rana Sugars today said it will start producing ethanol at its distillery plant at Amritsar.

According to Rana Sugar's release to the BSE, the company will add an ethanol manufacturing unit in its distillery plant, with a capacity of 60 KL per day and the ethanol unit would be set up with marginal modifications in the existing distillery plant.

The diversification is being done in view of the decision taken by the government allowing the mixing of 5% ethanol with petrol, the release added.
