Ranbaxy Laboratories has received tentative approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for Donepezil Hydrochloride, a medicine used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

The tentative approval is for oral tablets of Donepezil in 5mg and 10mg strengths, according to a release issued by Ranbaxy today.

Donepezil is the generic form of Eisai Medical Research Inc's branded medicine Aricept.

"It would, however, take a few more months for the company to get approval to market the product," the release said.
