Ranbaxy Laboratories today said it has received an order from the government for supplying Oseltamivir capsules, which is used in the treatment of Influenza A H1N1 (swine flu).
However, the company did not provide any information about the size of the order and its delivery schedule.
"It gives us immense satisfaction to be able to contribute to the government of India's effort in stemming this pandemic," Ranbaxy President Ramesh Adige said in a statement.
Earlier Drug Controller General of India has said that six companies -- Ranbaxy, Cipla, Strides Acrolab, Hetero, Hetco and Roche -- has the permission to manufacture Oseltamivir capsules.
Oseltamivir is the generic version of the Roche's drug Tamiflu, which has been recommended by the World Health Organisation for the treatment of swine flu.
