Ravi Uppal has been appointed president (global markets) of Zurich, Switzerland headquartered ABB group, a global leader in power and automation. He has also joined the group's executive committee. Uppal will be responsible for markets across all ABB regions and countries as well as the group account management function. Uppal will report to Fred Kindle, Group president and CEO in the company. Uppal takes over this role from Dinesh Paliwal, who quit the company at the end of June this year. However, he would continue to discharge the duties as country manager India and head south Asia region until further announcement, the company statement added. In 2006, the company had created eight regions to manage business lines and functional roles effectively across geographies and maximise synergies. Sources say the new role for Uppal is in keeping with the growing importance of India, where ABB's business is growing the fastest in the world. |
